2015 Can-Am Maverick 1000R X-ds Turbo - Industry First!

BRP adds the industry’s first factory-installed turbocharged side-by-side vehicle to its 2015 Can-Am off-road line-up, the Maverick X ds model.

“BRP is once again taking the industry by storm with the introduction of another industry-first,the new turbocharged Can-Am Maverick X ds side-by-side vehicle,” said Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager, Global Sales and Consumer Experience division. “The Can-Am Maverick X ds model brings pure performance to a whole new level, positioning BRP as the new benchmark in the industry.”

The Can-Am Maverick X ds side-by-side vehicle boasts industry-leading power with the new 121-hp Rotax 1000R turbocharged option, providing 10% more horsepower and almost 40% more torque than the closest competitor. It also features a completely new rear end providing a longer, 88-in (223.5-cm) wheelbase, a redesigned TTA rear suspension now featuring 16 in(40.6 cm) of travel and Can-Am exclusive high performance Fox shocks to provide capability, comfort and adjustability. This model soaks up terrain and remains nimble. It is tailored to fit riders and their riding style with its premium rider-focused cockpit and ergonomically positioned controls and adjustments.

We think the indroduction of a factory installed turbo is an amazing leap for the UTV market. It will help to further open the performance side of things up and other manufacturers will be unleashing even more. Back in 2006 and on Yamaha initially got hit hard with lawsuits with people getting injured with rollovers and other incidence. I think this was primarily due to the UTV market being so new and consumers unsure of what these vehicles could do - and the risks involved. The modern day UTV's are not just farm utility vehicles.. or by some views a golf cart with a gas motor. Since the introduction of the 2008 Polaris RZR the Side by Side market has progressed to the high level of performance factory UTV's are available with now.

Consumers have also grown with the increase in performance these factory equiped Side by Sides offer. They are better edjucated about their proper use, capabilties, and safety measures required. Also because of the hard front the Yamaha Corporation has had to endure they have ended up paving the road with overuled cases that allowed other UTV manufactures to come in such as Polaris, Kawasaki, Arctic Cat and more with less of lawsuite threat because of the cited cases Yamaha Corp ended up winning.

This all comes down to one main point: It seams that at the moment the UTV market is set to open wide open in the performance segment. With higher horsepower numbers, higher performance engines, higher top speeds, stronger and safter chassis.. It is exciting to be involed with this industry at this time.
